I find a wide variety of mushrooms, mosses, lichen and wild plants on my walks in the woods. I photograph what I find, and often use those photograph as the basis of my stitched paper artwork.
This piece started when I found an old printer's tray at a local antique mall. The small compartments reminded me of curio cabinets, and seemed the perfect spaces in which to house "treasures." Rather than take real things from the woods, I decided to re-create the things I have seen and photographed - out of paper, stitching, wire and thread.
After months of work, a little bit every day, the piece is a good sampler of the things I find and love in the forest.
This piece is SOLD.
